WeThePeople

Of niemand. Of jij, misschien?

Dit is hoe ik het zie, speelt op

19, 20 en 21 oktober in de Singel

WeThePeople is the recently established theater operation of Sara Gracia Santacreu, which primarily aspires to the integration of people with and people without disabilities through theatre.

“Zandzoekers” is the first play by WeThePeople, an inclusive theater company led by Sara Gracia Santacreu. It is a poetic-mythical tale about man. It asks questions without answers, tells stories without end that start again and again.

On June 24, 2022, Zandzoekers will have its premiere at Fameus.

sand seekers

There is a beach.

The kids call it a search beach.

They pick up buckets full of shells, build sandcastles, fly old kites and find long-lost keys.

The elderly call it a lost beach.

They dig their fingernails in search of the lost child. They hear the laughter in the waves before the cup went down.

Toes in the sand dig up old stories.

Everyone who comes is lost and seeks the way.

A cyclops seeks no one.

No one is looking for a lover.

A lover is looking for a man.

A man is looking for a mother.

A mother is looking for a child.

A child is looking for wings.

What are we doing?

In a broader sense, we want to use theater to bring people together with the most diverse identities, living environments and profiles in order to reflect the diversity that society has to offer on a stage.

From September, the participants will participate in a preliminary phase that culminates in an open try-out in December in Zaal Zirkus. During the preliminary phase, Sara explores the possibilities with the participants and a permanent group is formed.

From January 22, Sara will work with the group on a weekly basis on the creation of a performance that will premiere on June 24 in Zaal Zirkus.

The ambition is to develop WeThePeople into a sustainable, inclusive and participatory stage for people with and without disabilities.

Who participates?

The participants were selected after a three-day workshop in which 45 participants participated.

The selected participants are Olivier De Jonghe, Soukaina Hamdaoui, Julie Van den Steen, Cornelia Zambila, Femke Gracia Santacreu, Julie De Kort, Glenn Liebens, Marjolein Brijs, Ans Janssens, Daphné Liccardo, Sam Schurg, Hilde Wildiers, Ronny Cuyt, Kaat Janssen , Jules Detremmery and Eline Van Hoye.

Fameus contributes to the smooth progress of the project by providing a location and expertise.
