GUEST EXPO: FREEDOM
Fameus organizes an exhibition for GAST in de Stad, curated by David Katshiunga. The exhibition revolves around the theme : freedom and shows works by the residents of Fameus.
Freedom : a subject that is increasingly being questioned in these times. The GUESTs give their own interpretation, that of an artist, on the basis of their work.
Each person can define freedom differently based on their background and experiences. It can also be viewed from different angles. In the context of a GUEST expo in the Oude Beurs, we want to draw a parallel between the crisis we are currently going through and the theme " Freedom ".
We are going through a time when we see that our freedom is being restricted. Our social contacts, freedom of movement, freedom of assembly, freedom to work or go to school ... The freedom of expression is affected by the closure of theaters, museums and cinemas. We can no longer just carry out our hobbies and activities that contribute to our personal development.
This exhibition aims to shed light on what these circumstances mean for the artists of GAST, the residents of Fameus, and their work.
What does freedom mean to them?
How is that reflected in their art?
What freedom do they aspire to?
How is art an access to that?
The exhibition takes place on the ground floor of the Oude Beurs, at our main location: Zirkstraat 36, 2000 Antwerp.
On March 26, 27 and 28 and April 2, 3 and 4 on Fridays from 6 pm to 10 pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm.
