This project reveals the very core of Xray Atelier & Xray Community. As the founder, Alex Akuete has always used one of his three mantras (have a voice !) as a mobilization agent in the creation of his artworks and to pursue his dream in creating a safe space for young people where they can discover themselves, create, build friendship, and inspire one another. ( Have a voice ! ) is a recurring message in his art works, to the young people in his community and to those around him. He believes we humans are important in our own ways and if we believe we have something to say then it is imperative we have a platform to do so. He has made this his life’s work from a very young age because he is convinced from experience that believing ( you have a voice ), builds a steadfast self-image. It ensures a sense of trust in oneself, independence and the ability to mobilize others in believing in themselves.

We all in our own way have something to say and he wishes to create a space where we can all do so. This is the essence of Xray. Alex wishes to use this project to introduce to the world his Atelier works as visual artist/designer (Xray Atelier) and his works with the young people in (Xray community). Most importantly, he wishes to use this project to merge the works of XRAY ATELIER & XRAY COMMUNITY.

This performance consist of : Runway show, dance, spoken word and live music.

Dit project onthult de kern van Xray Atelier & Xray Community. Als oprichter heeft Alex Akuete altijd een van zijn drie mantra's (have a voice!) gebruikt als mobilisatie middel bij het creëren van zijn kunstwerken en bij het nastreven van zijn droom om een veilige ruimte te creëren voor jongeren waar ze zichzelf kunnen ontdekken, creëren, vriendschap opbouwen en elkaar inspireren. ( Have a voice ! ) is een terugkerende boodschap in zijn kunstwerken, aan de jongeren in zijn gemeenschap en aan de mensen om hem heen. Hij gelooft dat wij mensen op onze eigen manier belangrijk zijn en als we geloven dat we iets te zeggen hebben, is het noodzakelijk dat we een platform hebben om dat te doen. Hij heeft hier van jongs af aan zijn levenswerk van gemaakt, omdat hij uit ervaring weet dat geloven (dat je een stem hebt) een standvastig zelfbeeld opbouwt. Het zorgt voor een gevoel van vertrouwen in jezelf, onafhankelijkheid en het vermogen om anderen te mobiliseren om in zichzelf te geloven.

We hebben allemaal op onze eigen manier iets te zeggen en hij wil een ruimte creëren waar we dat allemaal kunnen doen. Dit is de essentie van Xray. Alex wil met dit project zijn werk als beeldend kunstenaar/ontwerper (Xray Atelier) en zijn werk met de jongeren in (Xray Community) aan de wereld voorstellen. Het belangrijkste is dat hij met dit project het werk van XRAY ATELIER & XRAY COMMUNITY wil samenvoegen.

Deze voorstelling bestaat uit : Runway show, dans, gesproken woord en live muziek.

Xray Community is a growing collective founded by Alex on 2018. With the infrastructural and organisational support from Fameus Antwerpen Alex has been able to coach moire than 20 young people. In Xray Atelier the young people get time to experiment with dance, writing, spoken word, acting, drawing… With the guidance during workshops by external professionals invited by Alex the young people can focus on & sharpen their respective artistic skills.

The past years, Xray Community have created and realised multiple projects in collaboration with local organisations such as Fameus Antwerpen, Mestizo Art Platform, Rataplan, De Singel, Arenberg, Het Paleis.

The main goal of Xray Community is to create a safe creative space for young minds to develop and Manifest in their own pace and time under the safe guidance and support of Alex, external professionals and partner organisation.
