Interwoven connections

Luca Tomaselli

The costume is 175 cm long. The round surface is 3,5mx3,5m(ish).

Repurposed bed sheets were turned into yarn, which was then used to create a skin-costume and a circular surface.

Interwoven Connections is a space that reflects a softer, yarn-covered version of my world—textured, layered, and in motion. This installation invites exploration through its handmade crochet, crafted from repurposed family bed sheets, embracing both sustainability and personal history. At its core, the project examines queer identity, vulnerability, and authenticity. The interplay of crochet and movement creates a balance of tension and release. Dance, threads, and breath converge, offering a space for reflection on the layers of self we reveal and those we keep hidden, deeply rooted in both personal and collective histories.

Luca (he/they) is an Italian artist based in Belgium whose practice moves between performance and creation. With a background in dance, Luca explores the body as a vessel for emotional depth and layered narratives, using movement to express memory, connection, and transformation. His work is rooted in collaboration and shaped by a cross-disciplinary lens. Interwoven Connections, his first visual piece, marks a pivotal moment in his research—where dance and visual art converge to explore intimacy, presence, and shared experience. Through this integration, Luca seeks to evoke reflection and foster genuine human connection through embodied, poetic expression.
